Best Travel Games
Over the last few days, one of things we have loved the most is hearing about our customers stories of hope. Whether it’s a long-awaited reunion after lockdowns, meeting newborn family members for the first time or just getting away for a few days, your excitement and anticipation has kept us buzzing. We’ve had lots of requests for pocket-sized games, little activity packs and engaging books, to keep young ones busy in the car or while they are away from home. So we’ve been inspired to put together our Best Travel Games to help with your plans.
Let’s face it, it’s absolutely mind-boggling the amount of stuff we often feel the need to pack for our kids just for a short day or two away. Get’s me every time! So when it comes to thinking about games, they need to be small sized, yet still pack in plenty of fun. We love the Orchard Toys range of Mini Games, small pocket-sized versions of classic games like snakes and ladders or lotto. Illustrated with the same bold and bright characters as their full-sized counterparts and filled with excitement. I once packed a couple of these in my mum-handbag for a wedding and soon had quite a gathering of kids happily playing together at the reception whilst the grown ups enjoyed a good chat. Winner winner!
When you are away from home and wanting to keep things simple, being able to whip out some mess-free simple activities can work wonders. If you have a child who loves to get creative, why not try an Usborne’s Magic Painting Book or one of Melissa & Doug’s Water Wow pads – all you need is a little bit of water! Or for another trip down memory lane, who remembers those dress-the-dolly activities where you had to press out all the clothes from a piece of card and bend the little tabs over to hold them onto the doll? Oh the tears when those tabs fell off! Same idea, but perhaps a little less fiddly, the very popular Usborne Sticker Dolly Dressing series will keep you little one creating for hours – if they can keep you away from it of course!
Mini Craft Packs
At this time of year, you are never sure if you’re going to be needing sun-cream or welly boots! So when the weather isn’t playing along, it can be handy to have something to do whilst you wait for the worst of the clouds to clear. We love both the GALT Activity Packs and the Gift in Tin ranges for having everything you need in one handy set. Both ranges have a brilliant amount of choice, from beautiful and bright crafts to fun and easy constructions with step-by-step guides.
It’s always nice to be able to take a companion toy or teddy with you for days out. When space is tight, these gorgeous little Finger Puppets from The Puppet Company are perfectly sized for a coat pocket. Designed and made with the most stunning fabrics and finished with an impressive eye for the details, these cute little friends can’t wait to join you on your trip.
Whatever you are up to, we would like to wish you a safe and happy adventure, and we can’t wait to hear about it when you get back!
